JUSSCR encourages global scholars to engage with WUF13, and invites submissions on urban planning and governance policy

The Editorial Office of the Journal of Urban Sustainability, Smart Communities and Resilience (JUSSCR) would like to bring to the attention of the global academic community the upcoming 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from May 17–22, 2026. As a leading international platform for urban sustainability discourse, WUF13 presents a valuable opportunity for scholars whose research aligns with the journal's scope.   About WUF13 Hosted by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), WUF13 will convene approximately 25,000–30,000 participants from over 130 countries under the theme "Housing the world: Safe and resilient cities and communities." The Forum will address critical global challenges including the housing crisis, climate adaptation, inclusive governance, and locally-driven urban action. Topics at WUF13 that may be of particular relevance to JUSSCR readers and contributors include:
  • Sustainable urban planning and design
  • Smart community development and digital transformation
  • Urban resilience building and disaster risk management
  • Housing policy and social equity
  • Urban governance innovation and public participation

 

Call for Submissions to JUSSCR

 

Independent of WUF13, JUSSCR warmly invites scholars worldwide to submit their latest research on urban planning, urban governance policy, and related fields to the journal. We welcome original research articles, review papers, and policy analyses addressing:
  • Innovative planning strategies for sustainable urban development
  • Applications and critical perspectives on smart city technologies
  • Assessment frameworks and empirical studies on urban resilience
  • Community-centered approaches to urban transformation
  • Cross-scale governance mechanisms (local, regional, national, global)
